For sought-after restaurants, make reservations in advance and confirm upon arrival.
North American appliances operate at 110 volts, while Europe utilizes 220 volts. Standard hair dryers and electronics will not function properly. We recommend packing dual-voltage appliances, converters for phone chargers and electronic devices, or inquire about availability at your hotel.
Getting Around
If you plan to utilize the Metro frequently throughout your trip, consider purchasing a Paris Visite pass for the Metro. Paris Visite passes allow unlimited use of the transportation system in Paris: Metro, Bus, RER, Tramway, etc. for a set number of days (1, 2, 3 or 5) – Zones 1-3 include central Paris.
Besides the Metro, taxis remain the most convenient and efficient way to navigate Paris thanks to their access to the bus lane (the advantage over Uber). Hailing a taxi on the street is possible, but we encourage you to download the G7 Taxi app and create your account before your arrival.

The Local Forecast
December in Paris is crisp and wintry with average daytime temperatures in the mid-40s to low 50s °F. There can be some light rain showers, but they typically pass quickly. Bring gloves and scarves - or don’t, have a good reason to go shopping.
Paris is Central European Summer Time (CEST), which is UTC+2. This puts it 6 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time (EST) in New York and 9 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time (PST) in California.
Safety
Paris is generally a safe city, however it’s important to always be mindful of pickpockets. While exploring the streets of Paris, it is best to avoid wearing expensive watches or jewelry, and refrain from carrying your wallet or phone in a back pocket. Please remember to leave some cash, a credit card, and your passport in your hotel safe. Ask reception to make a photocopy of your passport to keep with you during outings in case you do some shopping and want to receive the tax refund.
